Tutorial: Blue Eyed Babe
And we're back in business! After my travels to New Orleans and home for Thanksgiving I am now back into my makeup tutorial groove! I filmed this video right before I left for N'Awlins, so it's a little dated, but still valid. :) I'll be sure to zoom in more in the next tutorial.
Expect some haul videos in the near future with Black Friday and Cyber Monday having just passed. :)
What to do for this look....
Step 1: Apply your normal concealer, foundation, powder, bronzer/blush and highlight. Prime your eyes if you want a more pigmented look.
Step 2: Using the Ulta - Deep Blue Something baked eyeshadow and a blending brush (I'm using the Essence Smokey Eye Brush) and using the darker blue, work that into the outer corner and into the crease.
Step 3: Grab an eyeshadow brush (I'm using the Elf Eyeshadow Brush) and take some of the marbleized silvery-blue color from the Ulta Baked shadow and brush it over the lid. Blend into the crease color.
Step 4: Take a small oval mop paintbrush (1/4 Princeton Select) and put some of the deep silver from the Sequins and Shine Avon Truecolor Quad. Apply that to the inner corners and towards the middle of the lid, blending into the blues there.
Step 5: Using the smokey eye brush again, take a highlight color (Essence -Dance all Night) and apply to the highest point of the brow bone and the inner tear ducts.
Step 6: Using an eyeliner brush (Elf or Princeton Select) grab some of the dark blue shadow from the Ulta pot and apply it as under eye liner very lightly, smudging harsh lines.
Step 7: Apply gel eyeliner (Essence- London Fog) with an eyeliner brush. You can make a triangle wing if you'd like! Then pull the liner down to the under eye as well, stopping mid way. Set the gel liner with the dark blue shadow and a eyeliner brush (Flat top Princeton Select)
Step 8: Apply your mascara as usual! I'm using the Cover Girl Lashblast Volume Waterproof in Black.
Voila! Eyes are done!!!
Step 9: Using a lip stain (NYC 16H Lip Stain in Persistent Pink), apply all over the lips, but be careful not to go over the lip line or it'll literally stain ;)
Step 10: Apply Avon's Island Glow Lip Gloss. Pucker up, because you're done!
You're done! And you look great! :)
Cheers!

Tutorial: On the Go Travel Makeup
Hello all! I'm sorry it's been a few days. I am currently at a convention in New Orleans, LA! :) I wanted to take a few minutes in my down time to post about some ideas for travel makeup.
I often sit for a long time considering what to take on vacations/trips with me as far as my makeup goes. You don't want to pack too much or worry about wasting too much time on putting your face on. You are supposed to enjoy your travels after all!
So here is a quick rundown of what I took with me to New Orleans:
Foundation:
- L'Oreal True Match Foundation in W3
Blush/Bronzer:
- e.l.f. Healthy Glow Bronzer - Sunkissed
Powder:
-Cover Girl Clean Face Powder - Translucent Light
Eyebrows:
- NYC Brow Liner in Dark Blonde
Eyeshadows:
- Avon Truecolor Quad - Mocha Latte
- Wet N Wild Color Icon 8 Pan - Petal Pusher
Eyeliner:
- e.l.f. Cream Eyeliner - Black
Mascara:
- Neutrogena Healthy Lash Waterproof Mascara - Carbon Black
Lips:
- Essence Lip Liner - Soft Rose
- NYC Lip Gloss - Brighton Beach Peach
- Lipsmackers Naturals Chapstick - Cucumber Melon
Tools:
- One Eyeshadow brush (actually a paintbrush from A.C. Moore)
- One Eyeliner brush from the e.l.f. cream liner
- One e.l.f. Blush Brush for bronzer and powder
The key was taking the minimum without sacrificing a look. I chose to skip the concealer and stick with just bringing foundation and powder. For any boo-boos that I would conceal I just took more foundation and tapped it over that area for a fuller coverage. I set with powder and topped with bronzer.
For the eyes, I brought two shadow sets to go between depending on what I wore. The key here was to bring compact palettes instead of a bunch of singles. I chose the Mocha Latte browns as a light, neutral look for around town and during the presentations. The Petal Pusher purple palette (woah, alliteration) was used for evenings out and to match with a majority of the clothing I brought along with me. All shadow was applied with a paintbrush (a Maxine's Mop). I lined my eyes with cream liner and set with one of the darker shadows from the palettes.
Of course I had to bring a pencil brow liner or I'd look strange! :)
I stuck to light colors for the lips ans skipped the lipstick. I just used a simple pink liner and peachy gloss. And of COURSE I brought chapstick for walks around town.
Everything you travel with should fit in one small makeup bag like the Modela one I posted up top. You can get some cute travel bags from Walmart or Target. Also, don't forget to put liquid makeup in a quart size bag for security if you're flying (or check it all). I try not to check a bag, and I pack very light so I just brought a duffel bag and a bookbag. :)
Happy and beautiful travels,
Meg

Makeup Tutorial: Plum Crazy Purples
Hello darlings! So today I wanted to show off a tutorial for purples! I've been on sort of a purple kick lately with my wardrobe and with makeup, so I figured I'd embrace it. :) Here's what I did:
Step 1: Put lotion on your face or a primer. Apply foundation as usual and concealer for eyes and any boo-boos. Set with powder.
Step 2: Bronze the hollows of your cheeks as well as the sides of the nose and down the neck. Next, smile and add a blush of choice to the apples of your cheeks.
Step 3: Prime your eyelids for shadow. I used the Cover Girl Shadowblast Primer in 800.
Step 4: Work a dark crease color into the outer corner and crease, blending up slightly. I'm using the dark maroonish purple with glitter from the Wet N Wild Petal Pusher Palette. I used an Essence Smokey Eye brush to apply
Step 5: Find a mid tone color for the lid. I'm using a medium purple with blue undertones also from the Wet N Wild palette. I'm using an Elf Eyeshadow Brush to apply using short feathering strokes. Work it into the crease to blend.
Step 6: Now find a highlight color for the inner corner and blending above the crease. I used a petal pinkish mauve from the Wet N Wild palette. Using a blending brush I applied it to the inner corner and up onto the lower brow bone, mixing with the initial crease color to soften the edges. I also used an Essence highlight color called "Dance all Night" to apply to the tear duct and the highest point of the brow bone.
Step 7: Line your eyes. You can use any type of liner you want. I settled for an Elf Cream Liner in Midnight. Using an angled 1/8th paintbrush and small strokes I lined the eye at the lash line and drew a small wing on the outer edges. I set the color with a dark shadow
Step 8: Curl your lashes and add mascara. I love the Cover Girl Lashblast Volume Waterproof mascara in "Very Black." Voila! The eyes are done!
Step 9: On to the lips! I chose to use just a simple lipstain and gloss for the day being that I was heading out the door! If I had more time I would take the time to line the lips and add lipstick. But for the day I used NYC 16H Lipstain in "Persistent Pink" all over the lip, building until I found the pink I preferred. I then went over the color with Essence XXL Lipgloss in "Rising Star." This is a beautiful pink pearl color that when light hits it, it looks like a light plum.
Smooches! You are done! :) And you look amazing!
Where I got the products...
- CVS for the Wet N Wild Palette ($4.99) and Cover Girl Shadowblast Primer ($5.99 on sale)
- Walmart for the Cover Girl Mascara (around $6.00) and NYC Lipstain ($4.99)
- www.eyeslipsface.com for the Elf Cream Liner ($3.00), Eyeshadow Brush ($1.00)
- Michael's for the angled paintbrush ($2.99)
- Ulta (www.ulta.com) for the Essence products and brushes- Smokey Eye brush ($1.99), Lipgloss ($2.99), Highlight ($1.99)

Dupe of the Week! (Nov 19th)
Dupe of the Week: Avon v. Sephora
Hey everyone! So the dupes I found this week came from Sephora and Avon. I have had these small eyeshadow singles that I got in a trial set of five for a while now. I also have had two Avon eyeshadow quads that I use on a regular basis. The other day I was trying to find a deep purple and dark silver to create a smoky eye. I picked up two of the Sephora singles and both Avon quads to compare. They were VERY similar. Not exact. But close enough!
So here is some info about each product:
Dupe 1: Silvers
Avon True Color Quad - Smoky Eye
Sephora Eyeshadow - Made in Manhattan #55
Dupe 2: Purples
The purple shadows were...
Avon True Color Quad - Electric Purple
Sephora Eyeshadow - Midnight Kiss #34
Both dupes can be bought here...

Makeup Tutorial: Teal and Purple Eyes
Tutorial:
Well hello all! I decided to finally start doing actual tutorials in between makeup looks of the day and product overviews. So I hope you enjoy these. I'm sure I'll get better at them as I go. I'll actually probably start shooting these in my bathroom instead of my office area because the lighting is better there. But for now you get the gist. :) Enjoy!
The Tools You'll Need:
(Do your concealer, foundation, powder and bronzer in advance)
- Cover Girl Shadowblast Primer/Shadow (800)
- Avon Truecolor Quad (Sequins and Shine)
- Essence Eyeshadow (Disco Diva)
- e.l.f. Eyeshadow Brush
- Eyeshadow Paintbrush
- Essence Smokey Eye Brush
- NYC 16H Lipstain (Persistent Pink)
- NYC Lipgloss (Brighton Beach Peach)
- Ulta Eyeshadow (Galaxy)
What to Do:
After applying your foundation, bronzer and powder you'll want to prime your eye. Using the Cover Girl Shadowblast, apply a small amount to the lid and up the crease to each eye. Use your finger to spread it out. Don't worry if it looks very light... it's just a primer. :)
Next take your smokey eye brush (or any blending brush) and work in the dark brown from the Sequins and Shine quad on your crease and outer corner. Work on blending and building color until you reach the desired intensity. Don't worry if the color seems too dark... you'll blend it out in a minute!
Go back to using an eyeshadow brush and apply the teal color to the lid. Blend up into the crease so it mixes with the brown you applied. Only bring it to the middle of the lid because you want the inner corner to be brighter.
Now using the e.l.f. eyeshadow brush dust on the Essence Disco Diva purple on the lid from the inner corner and blending to the middle where the teal is. Work up into the crease to lessen the intensity of the brown.
To highlight, go back with the smokey eye brush and use the white color in the Sequins and Shine quad. Blend up to the highest point of the brow bone concentrating more color at that high point. Also, use the white highlight in the very inner corner at your tear duct.
See? Not so bad! The shadow is done! :)
Now to line the eyes, use the e.l.f. cream liner (or any cream, liquid, gel or pencil liner) and draw a thin line on the edge of the lid, right at the lash line. Start at the middle of the eye and work outward and then from the inner corner and towards the middle. This is soo much easier than trying to draw a straight line across. To make a triangle wing, use your eyeliner brush to line up the edge of the outer corner and draw up to the desired height. Then pull the liner brush back down towards the middle. You might have to practice a few times and don't worry. I screw it up all the time and I've done this for years. <3 Set the eyeliner color with an eyeliner brush and a dark shadow like Ulta's Galaxy. For the lips I chose just to stain them and gloss them. Using the NYC stain in Persistent Pink I built color by lining and filling in the lips. Next go over the color with your gloss (I used NYC Lipgloss in Brighton Beach Peach). Blend and smile.
You look amazing!!! :)
Cheers,
Meg
